Effect of X-irradiation on triglyceride metabolism of the rabbit
After lethal x irradiation, an increase of the triglyceride, but no change of the free fatty acids, was found in the rabbit plasma. A functional trial with I131-labeled triolein led to no inhibition of the hepatic accumulation of this material in the irradiated animals. The results therefore indicate that no perturbation of the fat transfer from the plasma is caused by the x irradiation, but that the lipemia takes place through abnormal chylomicra.
