BETA AND GAMMA EMISSION FROM ORIENTED NUCLEI

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4837315
Fundamentals of nuclear orientation are reviewed. Tho theory of beta and gamma emission from oriented nuclei is ex amined. Attention is given to: the asymmetry in beta /sub +/ emission from Co/sup 58/ and Mn/sup 52/; the angular distribution and linear polarization of the gamma rays emitted by Ho/ sup 166//sup m/; and beta /sup -/ emi ssion from Ho/sup 166//sup m/ and Tb/sup 160/. The theory of beta and g emission from strongly deformed even-A nuclei is considered. (T.F.H.)
