BETA AND GAMMA EMISSION FROM ORIENTED NUCLEI (thesis)

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:4123780
Theory on beta and gamma emission from oriented nuclei is presented; and measurements of the asymmetry of positron emission from polarized Co/sup 58/ and Mn/sup 52/, the directional distribution and linear polarization of gamma rays emitted from aligned Ho/sup 166/ and beta emission from oriented Tb/sup 160/ and Ho/sup 166/ are described and discussed. The orientation of the isotopes used and the phenomena of strongly deformed nuclei are also considered. 125 references. (D.C.W.)
