THE RADIOSENSITIVITY OF VARIOUS AREAS OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DURING ONTO-GENESIS (in Russian)

Female pregnant rats were given a single dose of l50 r from the l0th to the l7th day of embryogenesis. Doses of 50, l00, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 r were also used from time to time. Necrotic lesions of neuroblastic cells in the large hemispheres of the brain could be observed after irradiation on the 14th day of embryogenesis. The damage was more severe for irradiation on the 15th day. Two days after irradiation, reparative processes begin to take hold. After the l8th day, the damage from irradiation decreases. Thus, irradiation of embryos on the l5th to 17th day of development with doses of 150 to 300 r shows that this period is a critical one for the development of the large hemispheres of the brain. At this time, irradiation leads to extensive destruction of neuroblastic elements with subsequent impairment of structure. (TTT)
