THE QUESTION OF RADIATION PROTECTION WITH NICOTINAMIDE (in German)

Journal Article · · Nuclear-Med.
OSTI ID:4827622

Nicotinamide has a radiation protective action for Ehrlich ascite cells, but none in the case of whole-body irradiated mice. The protective action for ascite cells is not only for the growing of the cells, but also for the anaerobic glycolysis and the stationary concentration of DPN. Both of the last mechanisms are much more radioresistant than the transplantability of the tumor. Therefore the protective action of the latter cannot be explained by a protection of the glycolysis or the DPN-content of the cells. (auth)
