The influence of the agents cysteamine, serotonin, nicotinamide, thiourea, d-penicillinamine, and 5-mercaptopyridoxine on the radiosensitivity of tumor tissue in vitro and in vivo is tested. The investigations were with the mouse tumors Ehrlich ascites, solid Ehrlich carcinoma, and Crocker sarcoma l80. In the case of Ehrlich ascites only cysteamine, serotonine, and nicotinamide are able to protect the ascites cells. If solid Ehrlich carcinoma is irradiated in vivo, a significant protective action of cysteamine, serotonin, d-penicillamine, and 5-mercaptopyridoxine could be shown. In the same experiments with Crocker sarcoma none of the investigated substances are able to protect the in vivo irradiated tumor. (auth)
