>It was previously reported (Naturwissenschaften 48, (l96l)436) that radiation caused an increase in Fe/sup 59/ uptake in rat bone marrow megakaryocytes. In the present study the effect of cysteamine injection immediately before irradiation on Fe/sup 59/ uptake was reported. Albino rats were exposed to whole-body irradiation of 500 r and the Fe/sup 59/ uptake was determined. A marked differenee was observed from the previous study. It appears that cysteamine offers protection against radioinduced stimulation at the level of iron incorporation. (J.S.R.)
