EFFECTS OF CYSTEAMINE ON THE INCORPORATION OF Fe$sup 59$ IN THE RAT LIVER CELLS IN VIVO BEFORE RADIATION (in German)

The degree of protection offered by cysteamine at the quantitative level of Fe/sup 59/ incorporation in the rat liver cells was studied. The results are tabulated and show that the Fe/sup 59/ incorporation in the nuclei and cytoplasm of the liver cells was greatly increased with radiation and decreased to almost normal level when radiation was preceded by cysteamine injection. Protective efficacies observed at the levels of nucleus, cytoplasm, and total cell were 92.7, 88.8, and 89.7%, respectively. (J.S.R.)
