ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF URANIUM IN MILK (ABSORPTIOMETIC- DIBENZOYLMETHANE)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4819841

A sample of milk is evaporated to dryness, ashed, and the residue dissolved in nitric acid. Uranium is extracted from the solution with tributyl phosphate-isooctane reagent and determined absorptiometrically as the dibenzoylmethane complex. The method is applicable for milk containing 0.1 to 5 mu g/ml of uranium. Concentrations outside this range may be determined by suitable adjustment of the sample portion. The method is accurate within 15% at the 20 mu g level. (auth)
