STUDIES OF THE INFLUENCE OF X-RAY THERAPY ON THE FUNCTION OF ADRENAL CORTEX. I. STUDIES OF URINARY 17-KS

Changes in the adrenal function of patients receiving radiotherapy were examined. For the measurement of 17-KS, the Zimmermann-Masuda modification method was used. Considerable changes of the l7-KS content in the urine were observed after irradiation. The l7-KS content varies immediately after irradiation and is largely related to the grade of radiation sickness. Even when small doses were administered intermittently the 17-KS content was increased. This was considered to be due to adrenal hypofunction. (Abstr. Japan Med., 1: No. 15, 1961)
