An improved method is outlined for making attached-fin type tube structures for heat transfer, e.g., on reactor fuel tubes. The method results in a tube provided with at least one pair of ribs projecting radially outwards from the tube surface and separated by a radial groove, in which a fin is clinched in place. Thus, the fin is disposed outside and not in the actual radial tube thickness, and the full strength of the tube thickhess is utilized. (D.L.C.)
