HEADER FOR THE COOLANT OF NUCLEAR REACTORS

The header comprises a collar and two plates fixed to this collar and held together by distance pieces. Each of these plates is perforated in alignment with the lattice positions of the reactor for insertion of the reactor tubes enclosing the fuel elements or of other tubes forming the guides for other devices, e.g., for the control rods. The inside of the wall of the header is suitably provided with a thermally insulating layer, while the outside is enclosed by a cooling casing in which an auxiliary coolant flows in order to keep all the parts of the header at essentially the same temperature. The inside of the reactor tubes communicates with the headers suitably by lateral openings in these tubes. Preferably, one header is provided for each front face of the reactor and serves as entrance or exit header. (NPO)
