IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT HEADERS FOR THE COOLANT OF A HETEROGENEOUS NUCLEAR REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4799152
A heterogeneous pressure tube reactor, preferably moderated by heavy water, has an entrance header situated at the top of the reactor and comprising two vertical plates one at the bottom and one at the top. These plates are assembled by vertical sockets forming the upper extensfons of the pressure tubes and supporting the exit header insfde and spaced from the horizontal walls of the entrance header, the exit header being provided at its inner wall wfth a thermal insulation. The coolant flows from the entrance header into the sockets via thefr lateral openings and from the sockets downwards into the inner space formed between the pressure tubes and the inner tubes centered in the pressure tubes and enclosing the fuel elements. The coolant then rises in the inner tubes reaching finally the exit header via further lateral openings in the sockets. (NPO)
