The apparatus consists of ~0.2 m/sup 2/ of ion chambers with suitable absorbers interposed between layers. Energy spectra were measured for showers originating in the atmosphere and for cascades originated by nuclear-active particles in a block of graphite. Data are presented graphically, and the photon spectra display a characteristic break at 2 to 4 x l0/sup 12/ ev. Indications are that a new process may be appearing at this energy. From the electromagnetic cascades the absorption of nuclear-active particles was found to vary from 148 plus or minus 10 to 129 g/cm/sup 2/, for energies from 10/sup 12/ to 5 x 10/sup 13/ ev. The coefficient of inelasticity for nuclearactive particles was found to be relatively constant over a large energy region. Finally, the intensity of the primary radiation from 2 x l0/sup 11/ to 2 x 10/sup 13/ ev was found to be N (E) = (600 plus or minus 150) (E x 10/sup 12/)/sup -1.7 plus or minus 0.15/ h/sup - 1/m/sup -2/sr/sup -1/.
