S>A single injection of strontium-90 was administered to groups of female mice at 2 dose levels. Survival and the causes of death were studied. The results in shortening of the lifespan and in frequency of bone tumor parallel data previously reported. Analyses of the causes of death showed that in experimental and control mice more than 80% died with tumors. Special emphasis was put on the exact histological classification of the types of tumor. The influence of internal radiation of Sr/sup 90/ on incidence of the different types of tumor could be evaluated only by plotting specific death rates. (auth)
