Rats were exposed to 600 r single whole-body irradiatioz. By means of tritium-labelled thymidine and autoradiography, the total cell count, cytological pattern and DNA synthesizing ability of the myelopoietic precursors were studied during the first 24 hr after exposure. The radiosensitivity of myelopoietic precursors was lower in general than that of erythropoietic precursors, although the inhibitory effect was equally pronounced as determined by autoradiographic study with a tracer for reduction of gran ule counts. The grade of inhibition was greater in immature cells than in fully developed cells. (Abstr. Japan Med- , 2, No.2, Feb. 1962)
