EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE DIRECT AND INDIRECT ACTION OF X-RAYS UPON THE BONE MARROW

Journal Article · · Osaka Shiritsu Daigaku Igaku Zasshi
OSTI ID:4785218

A unilateral hind limb of rabbits was irradiated with 2000 r of x rays and the cell numbers of the myelopoietic and erythropoietic systems and the P/sup 32/-uptake rate were determined. The values of these indices decreased markedly on the irradiated side with lapse of time, while a slight to moderate decrease of ce 1 number and P/sup 32/-uptake rate occurred in the non-irradiated leg. The results warrant the conclusion that the non-irradiated bone marrow may be involved by radiations by way of indirect action (Abstr.Japan Med.,2 No.1,Jan 1962)
