INFLUENCE OF X-IRRADIATION ON THE MANIFESTATION OF CANDIDA INFECTION

Journal Article · · Kurume Igakkai Zasshi (Japan)
OSTI ID:4795050
Mice were irradiated by a single whole-body x ray exposure of 400 r just after the inoculation of C. albicans. The body weight, phagocytic ability of the subcutaneous tissue, and white blood cell count were diminished, and the mice showed an increased tendency toward infection with C. albicans. It is inferred that x irradiation may impair the function of the RES which rendered the mice more susceptible to candida infection than non-irradiated animals. (Abstr.
