EFFECT OF X-IRRADIATION ON THE FUNCTION OF THE RES IN MICE. I. INFLUENCE OF WHOLE-BODY SINGLE IRRADIATION ON THE FUNCTION OF THE RES

Mice were exposed to whole-body single x irradiation, and the RES was examined by means of the injection of India ink. When mice were irradiated with x rays in a dose of 50 r, the phagocytic index showed only slight deviation from normal level, and completely regained the normal level about 2 weeks after irradiation. When over 500 r of x rays was given, there was a definite decrease of the phagocytic index. (Abstr. Japan Med., 2, No, 1, Jan. 1962)
