CHARGING CHUTE FOR FUEL ELEMENTS OF A NUCLEAR REACTOR
An articulated charging chute is described that can serve a group of channels. The chute is composed of a main tube rotatably mounted in the charging hole and fitting at its lower end, via a pivotally mounted nose, in a centering hole provided in the top face of the moderator structure. The main tube has along its lower portion an elongated lateral opening, and a movable tube is pivotally mounted on the main tube near the upper end of this lateral opening, so that the movable tube may swing laterally in order to serve laterally situated channels. A rotary move ment of the main tube transmits a drive via a toothed wheel mounted on the centering nose, which engages a gear mounted on the moderator structure. This gear drives a screw in the main tube, inducing by its rotation the axial movement of a nut on this screw. The nut is linked via a lever to the movable tube of the chute, inducing by its axial movement the lateral movement of the tube. (NPO)
