CONTROL DEVICE FOR A CHARGING CHUTE FOR NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4793549

An articulated cha-ging chute for nuclear reactors, which is placed into a charging hole and serves a group of reactor channels, is provided with pneumatic or hydraulic means for bringing the lower end of the charging chute successively over the exits oi each oi the channels. The chute is composed of an upper tubular portion rotatably mounted in the charging hole, and a lower tubular portion pivotally mounted at the lower end of the upper portion and linked with a further tubular piece axially sliding on the upper portion, so that this axial displacement determines the lateral position of the lower portion of the chute. This tubular piece is attached to an annular piston sliding on a portion of the charging-hole wall. The required axial displacement is performed by connecting the spaces above and below the piston with fluid-pressure sources. The tube is provided with two pins mounted at its inner and outer wall respectively, which engage in profiled grooves having the general shape of a series of waves of different height, the grooves being provided in pieces fixed to the charging hole, so that by commutating the pressure the lower end of the chute may be brought into each of its working positions.
