PROGRESS REPORT ON NUCLEAR RESEARCH , APRIL, MAY, JUNE 1961 TO THE UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4786117
Measurements are reported of the cross sections for resonance and ternary fission of U/sup 235/, of angular distributions in the n-p interaction at 16 to 23 Mev, of mass distributions in thermal and epithermal neutron fission of U/sup 233/ U/sup 235/, and Pu/sup 239/, of the B/sup 11/(p, gamma )C/sup 12/ giant resonance, a nd of the Mossbauer effect in Er/sup 166/. Development of circuitry is described, including transistorized sensitive discriminators and limiters, thyratron firing control systems for neutron velocity spectrometers, and a time mark generator for use with a Van de Graaff chopped beam. The development of a neutron velocity spectrometer is outlined. (T. F. H.)
