ELECTRON-PROTON COINCIDENCES IN INELASTIC ELECTRON-DEUTERON SCATTERING

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
Electron-proton coincidences in inelastic electrondeuteron scattering were detected under the following conditions: incident beam energy 500 Mev; electron scattered at 75 deg and 359 Mev; proton detected at 40 deg 23' (the q direction for the e-p elastic scattering). The coincidence crosssection with a D/ sub 2/ target was found to be (4.2 plus or minus 0.8) x 10/sup -32/ statistical errors, with the value calculated from a theory of Durand. One may conclude that proton form factors in a bound state and the free state do not differ significantly. (auth)
