THE EFFECT OF IONIZING RADIATION ON NUCLEIC ACIDS. (A COMPARATIVE STUDY)

Journal Article · · Neoplasma (Czechoslovakia)
OSTI ID:4773206
On the basis of a review of present knowledge on the ef fect of ionizing radiation on nucleic acids, the author evaluates the changes observed in his experiments in various fractions of RNA from the livers of rats irradiated in vivo with x rays. The possible mechanisms involved in the decrease of RNA content in the tissue following irradiation and the possible consequences of the structural changes of RNA for its biological role are discussed.
