NUCLEAR REACTOR INCORPORATING MEANS FOR COOLING WALLS OF TUBES

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4768913
A heavy water-cooled, calandria-type reactor is designed with means for cooiing the inner walls of the calandria tanks and the external walls of the coolant tubes above the moderator level. The means comprise a ring manifold and a dribble header. Thus, the reactor may be constructed out of inexpensive materials having low neutron capture cross sections but iow strength at high temperatures. The coolant is preferably organic. (D.L.C.)
