COOLING SYSTEMS FOR NUCLEAR REACTORS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4777979
A re-entrant coolant circuit for graphite-moderated, liquid-sodium- cooled reactors is designed with means for controlling the coolant flow rate. The coolant passes from the cold sodium tank through two ports in outer and inner tubes into the annular space between the tubes, through the inner tube past the fuel elements, and thence out into the hot sodium tank. Control of the coolant flow rate is effected by rotation of the inner tube to vary the overlap of the ports. (D.L.C.)
