A study was made of a new series of compounds with the general formula L/ sub 2/O/sub 2/Te in which L is one of the following rare earths- La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Dy. All these compounds have the same quadratic structure. A description is given of their preparation and the principal chemical properties. (tr-auth)
