INVESTIGATIONS ON THE PROBLEM OF FORMATION AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF BIOGENIC AMINES IN SUBLETHAL RADIATION INJURIES. Final Technical Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4750116

The effects of single whole-body doses of 400, 600, and 8OO r x radiation on the levels of 7 amines in blood and urine were measured in rats. Levels of tryptamine, 5hydroxytryptamine, bufotenine, histamine, 3- hydroxytryptamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline were increased according to radiation dose. Functional tests showed that the amines had a marked influence on capillaries and small blood vessels, tissue respiration, and tissue gas levels. (C.H.)
