STEAM COOLED NUCLEAR REACTOR
BS>A heavy wnter-moderated nuclear reactor comprises a tank for the heavy water motlerator and a plurality of vertical reactor tubes closed at the bottom enclosing the fuel elements, while steam circulates as a reactor coolant through these tubes. Within each of these tubes a cylindrical wall is provided forming with the inner tube wall an annular interspace. The steam coolant enters the interspace near the top of the tube, descends therein, and rises afterwards within the cylindrical wall in contact with the fuel elements. A part of the steam descending in the interspace is condensed at the inner wall of the reactor tube having a relatively low temperature. This condensed steam flows down along the inner wall and is assembled and evacuated at the bottom of the reactor tube. (IIB)
