RADIOPROTECTION IN THE GUINEA-PIG BY MEANS OF MESO-2-3-DIMERCAPTOSUCCINIC ACID (DTS) (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Giorn. Ital. Chemioterapia
OSTI ID:4737344
The radioprotective effect of DTS was studied on guinea pigs exposed to 800, 600, 400, and 300 r in single doses. The DTS was injected one hr after irradiation and continued for seven days. Lethality on the 30th day was used as the standard to determine the radioprotective efficiency of DTS. It had no effect on the animals receiving 800 and 600 r. 20% of the animals exposed to 400 r survived with DTS protection, but all the controls died. All the protected animals exposed to 300 r survived, but only 40% of the controls. (J.S.R.)
