EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES ON THE INFLUENCE OF X-IRRADIATION ON GLUTATHIONE CONTENT IN ORGANS AND IMPLANTED SARCOMA OF RABBITS

Adult male rabbits were exposed to various doses of x irradiation. Regardless of the doses, glutathione content increased in the liver, kidney, and muscle, but did not increase in the lung. In rabbits with Kato's sarcoma implanted in their subcutaneous tissue, glutathione cortent increased in various organs, and in liver fragments the reduced type of glutathione increased considerably. After x irradiation of the implanted rabbits, glutathione content increased further in various organs except in muscle; in liver fragments, however, the reduced glutathione regained the same level as in normai rabbits.
