EFFECT OF Co$sup 60$ IRRADIATION UPON UPTAKE OF P$sup 32$ AND I$sup 131$ LABELLED ALBUMIN IN VARIOUS CYTOFRACTIONS

A study was made of the uptake of P/sup 32/ in liver fragments obtained from adult male mice with Ehrlich's carcinoma implanted into their peritoneal cavities and irradiated with various doses of Co/sup 60/. I/sup 131/-labeled albumin in their carcinoma cells was determined. Following Co/sup 60/ irradiation, the nucleic acid metabolism was depressed in the liver cells as well as in the carcinoma cells. The content of the albumin fell most extensively in the microsomal fraction, next in the mitochondrial fraction, and least in the nucleic fraction. (Abstr. Japan Med., 2: No. l1, Nov. 1962)
