The construction of the component parts of the magnetohydrodynamic closed loop and its auxiliaries is discussed. Topics covered include: status of closed loop duct, status of closed loop auxiliaries, enhanced ionization utilizing chemical disequilibrium, compatibility of tantalum and cesium, and fail safe features of cesium-helium feed and bleed system. The various possible modes of failure of the overall test apparatus were analyzed and the appropriate safety provisions were included in the design. (M.C.G.)
