A photomultiplier intended for measurements in the nsec region is developed, and is a continuation in the series of multipliers for scintillation measurements. Some of the details in the design of a dynode system, and the results obtained, are described. In a meandering system of electrodes high values of the electric field strength and dynode current are obtained, and thus the dispersion of the transit times and the space changes is lowered. The starting time is about 2 nsec, the decay time 3 nsec, and the mean width approximately 3 nsec. The linearity of the impulses is preserved up to a current of 0.5 amp. Impulses having a current up to 1.5 amp in a photomultiplier- stilbene connection are obtained for gamma radiation of 800 kev. (auth)
