OSTI ID:4727540
A simple photometric method was worked out for determining U in solutions containing large amounts of Al, Fe(III), Mg, Zn, Ca, Cr(III), Mn(II), Ni, Co, and many other elements without U separation. The method is based on the measurement of the optical density of solutions of the U(VI)-- arsenazo III complex in 6M nitric acid. The mean experimental error is not more than 2.1%. The time required for a determination is about 5 min. The maximum absorption is at 656 m mu , the molar extinction coefficient is about 60,000. Uranium and arsenazo III interact in a molar ratio of 1: 1. (auth)
