THE STIMULATING EFFECT OF A COMBINED IMMUNIZATION OF BCG VACCINE AND OTHER VACCINES ON IMMUNOGENESIS IN IRRADIATED AND NON-IRRADIATED MICE

Journal Article · · Byul. Eksperim. Biol. i Med.

Experiments were carried out on 1474 albino female mice weighing 18 to 20 g, inoculated with a living B. coli culture injected subcutaneously (s.c.) into 220 mice (25 or 100 millions of microorganisms); a monovaccine of B. paratyphi Breslau No. 2503 killed at 56 to 58 un. Concent 85% C, injected intracutaneously into 439 mice (200 millions); a tetravaccine against typhoid, B. paratyphi B, S. flexneri, and S. sonnei, injected s.c. at a dose of 0.25 ml into 760 mice. The dry DCG vaccine was added (1 mg/O.1 ml solution) to the vaccines immediately before injection in its native form or after autoclaving. Whole-body irradiation was carried out on groups of 12 mice with a 300 r dose at a dose rate of 20 to 22 r/min. Immunity was tested by inoculation with living bactenial cultures. It was found that the addition of BCG vaccine as an adjuvant to other vaccines increased markedly the immunity of both nonirradiated and irradiated mice. The discovery has theoretical and practical importance. (OTS)
