THE PRODUCTION AND DECAY OF A C$sup 14$-HYPERFRAGMENT
An example of a C/sup 14/-hyperfragment has been observed during a systematic study of hyperfragmerts produced by the irteractions of K/sup -/ mesons and SIGMA /sup -/ hyperons in nuclear emulsion. A photomicrograph of the event is shown, and the possible production reactions are examined. On the grounds of hyperfragment unique range and on considerations of decay kinematics, the event is labeled as the production of a C/sup 14/-hyperfragment from the interaction SIGMA /sup -/ + N/sup 14/ yields ub LAMBDA /C/sup 14/ + n, which subsequently decays mesonically via the mode /sub LAMBDA /C/sup 14/ yields N/sup 14/ + pi /sup -/, giving a binding energy B/sub LAMBDA /(/sub LAMBDA /C/sup 14/) =
