Solvent extraction of carrier-free Fig from neutronirradiated lithium by tributylphosphate was investigated. Maximum distribution coefficients were exhibited in carrier free HF/sup 18/ distribution between tributylphosphate and HCl, HNO/sub 3/, H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solutions and LiCl + HCl solutions. Distribution of HF/sup 18/ between TBP and 1N HCl with constant macrocomposition and with variable HF concentration from 10/sup -8/ to 10/sup -2/ N was investigated. The relatively constant distribution coefficient indicates the absence of HF polymerization in organic phase. Distribution of HF/sup 18/ between the TBP in CCl/sub 4/ and 1N hydrochloric acid solutions was studied. It was shown that carrier-free HF/sup 18/ extraction appears as HF. TBP complex. (R.V.J.)
