Separation of carrier-free I/sup 131/ from irradiated telluric acid (H/ sub 6/TeO/sub 6/) with solvent extraction was studied. Neutronirradiated telluric acid was dissolved in 0.3N hydrochloric acid, and H/sub 2/O/sub 2/was added to the solution. From this solution carrier-free I/sup 131/ was separated by extraction with TBP and then back-extracted into a mixture of solution of 1% about 94% of I/sup 131/ was recovered into the aqueous phase. The irradiated telluric acid was also dissolved in aqueous solutions of various reagents, and chemical forms of I/sup 131/ in these solutions were examined. (auth)
