IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO TUBULAR HEAT EXCHANGERS, ESPECIALLY FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR INSTALLATIONS
A heat exchanger of the monobloc'' type especially for nuclear reactor installations comprises within a vertical cylindrical casing at least one series of tubes wound around an axial deflector core, while hot gas coming from the reactor flows downwards through the casing in heat exchanging relationship with the tubes. Each of the tubes has a helicoidal shape lying on one of a series of concentric director cylinders with different diameters, such as the tubes of the same series lying on the same cylinder. The tubes are provided with helicoidal cooling fins having a height and mutual distance of about the same dimension as the thickness of the tube wall. The smooth extremities of the tubes of the same series are respectively connected with upper and lower header tubes. Preferably each tube series is divided into two sub-series. The upper ends of the tubes of the lower sub-series lying on a cylinder of larger diameter are connected with the lower ends of the tubes of the upper sub-series lying on a smaller cylinder, and viceversa. The disposition of the series is such as to get an orientation of the cooling fins parallel to the essential gas flow direction. (IIB)
