Heat exchangers for nuclear power plants in which the reactor coolant passes over tube banks in which the working medium is evaporated are discussed. The problem of how to arrange the tubes to get the same heat transfer rate for all tubes was considered. The tubes of a tube bank were designed of helico-idal shape with identical pitch and were placed along a series of concentric cylinders. These tubes were interconnected in series so as to get identical tube lengths between the headers of the tube bank. These helicoidal tubes connected in series may also be disposed in parallel with respect to the reactor coolant flow. (IIB)
