IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO HEAT EXCHANGERS
A heat exchanger is described which has a cylindrical pressure vessel and is adapted to the flow of a heating fluid under super-atmospheric pressure, while a series of heat exchanging tube banks constituting econonnizer evaporating and superheating stages are disposed within the vessel/su The tubular end parts of each tube bank are set parallel to one another transversely of the pressure vessel and are connected via tubular parts, passing though thermal sleeves in the pressure vessel wall, to inlet and outlet headers disposed outside the pressure vessel on the same side thereon. Each tube bank constituting an economizer or superheating stage comprises several series of horizontally disposed parallel tubes, adjacent tubes being connected at one of the ends of them by a tubular U- shaped piece, so that the sertes of parallel tubes with their connection tubes have a sinuous tracing. Suttably, these tubes are provided with cooling ribs improvtng the heat transfer from the heating fluid which flows transversally to these tubes. The banks of the evaporating stage each comprises several series of verttcally disposed parallel tubes with cooling ribs, the tube of each series being assembled at the ends of them by horizontally disposed subheaders, so that the heating fluid flows parallel to these tubes.
