INDUCTION BY X-RAYS OF THE DESTRUCTION OF DESOXYRIBONUCLIC ACID OF ESCHERICHIA FREUNDII. 2. STUDY OF DIFFERENT CONDITIONS CAPABLE OF MODIFYING THE DESTRUCTION

Journal Article · · Intern. J. Radiation Biol.
OSTI ID:4694936
The destruction of DNA in Escherichia freundii irradiated and incubated in a medium that does not allow multiplication was studied. No direct correlation was observed between x irradiation and destruction of DNA and it was possible to modify mortality and DNA destruction independently. It was concluded that the destruction of DNA was induced by a secondary process, probably enzymatic, and not as a direct effect of radiation. (C.H.)
