CORROSION RESISTANCE OF NICKEL-BASE ALLOYS IN A NaF-LiF-BeF$sub 2$-ZrF$sub 4$ SALT MIXTURE UNDER HYDROFLUORINATOR CONDITIONS WITH ZIRCALOY-2 DISSOLVING AT 500 C

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4694111
A study was made to evaluate the corrosion resistance of nickel alloys in NaF -- LiF -- BeF/sub 2/-- ZrF/sub 4/ salt mixtures at 500 deg C with Zircaloy- 2 dissolving in the melt. The assembly was operated for 200 hr, and 293.15 g of Zircaloy-2 was added. The corrosion attack was apparently very mild; even the liquid-vapor interface area was barely discernible, and no reduction in thickness could be detected. (M.C.G.)
