MIXED SODIUM AND CALCIUM URANATES (in Russian)

X-ray phase analysis of the Na/sub 2/U/sub 2/O/sub 7/-CaUO/sub 4/ system revealed a reaction between the sodium and calcium carbonates and U/sub 3/O/sub 8/ , sodium carbonate reacts first and is followed by calcium carbonate reaction at a higher temperature. The solubility of calcium monouranate in sodium biuranate is negligible and the x ray spectra of Na/sub 0.875/Ca/sub 0.125/UO/sub 3.56/ exhibit lines of monoclinic phase Na/sub 0.75/Ca/sub 0.25/UO/sub 3.63/ with a very dense cation-anion packing a Sin BETA = b = c Sin BETA = 4.113 450 deg C in a 0.002 X; BETA = 88 un. Concent 85% 16' 450 deg C in a 4'. Hexagonal phases with similar structure but contrastirg axial ratios were found for Na/sub 0.625/Ca/sub 0.375/UO/sub 3.69/ to Na/sub 0.375/Ca/sub 0.625/UO/sub 3 .81/ and Ca/sub 0.75/ Na/sub 0.25/UO/sub 3.88/ to CaUO/sub 4/ compositions.
