MEASUREMENT OF THE POLARIZING POWER OF OXYGEN FOR d,d-NEUTRONS AT ENERGIES OF 2.5 TO 3.2 Mev (in German)

Journal Article · · Helvetica Physica Acta (Switzerland)
OSTI ID:4670065
S>The azimuthal asymmetry of d,d neutrons elastically scattered by oxygen-16 was measured at three different scattering angles. A thick heavy ice target was bombarded with deuterons of 350 and 550 kev energy (mean neutron energy 2.84 and 2.98 Mev respectively). The asymmetry was measured with fixed counter position by rotating the polarization of the incident neutron beam through an angle of plus or minus 90 deg by means of a solenoid. The determined analyzing power of oxygen at scattering angles (center-of-mass system) of 57 to 109 deg are measured. All phaseshift sets derived from total and differential scattering cross sections do not fit these results. (auth)
