A STUDY OF CERTAIN FACTORS OF HEMOAGGLUTINATION AND COAGULATION AFTER THE IRRADIATION OF DOGS

Journal Article · · Vet. Casopis
OSTI ID:4665709
Two groups of dogs were subjected to whole-body irradiation (100 and 300 rad) and one group was subjected to partial irradiation of the hepatic area only (600 rad) by gamma rays. Changes found were decreased activity of convertin, shortened time of recalcification, slight decrease in the activity of prothrombin, proaccelerin, and of the complex of prothrombin and fibrinogen. Radiosensitivity of tue proconvertin was increased. Blood serum protein content was significantly decreased on the 4th day after irradiation by large doses. The albumin content was significantiy decreased on the 4th day after irradiating tue hepatic region, but the alpha-globulin content was increased. Hematocrit index and hemoglobin concentration were diminished. It was concluded that the proconvertin decrease may serve as a diagnostic symptom. (TCO)
