Protein composition of canine blood serum during and after 6-year exposure to external gamma radiation

Journal Article · · Radiobiology (USSR) (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5388472
Chronic exposure of dogs to radiation at the dose rate of 0.06, 0.17, and 0.34 rad/day for 6 years did not alter appreciably the protein composition of blood. Additional acute irradiation, in a dosage of 42 rad, against the background of chronic exposure elicited distinct changes in albumin and globulin content. After discontinuing irradiation, an increase in protein content was demonstrated; however, there was subsequent normalization.
