The design of a long-arm reacher or manipulator with an angularly adjustable handle is patented. The reacher consists of an arm with jaws at one end, for engaging or gripping an article, a handle unit at the other end to actuate the jaws, and an operating mechanism connecting the handles with the jaws. For convenience, the angular position of the handle relative to the arm is adjustable, but the adjustment does not affect the range of movement of the jaws. The handles are connected to the operating mechanism by a flexible connector such as a chain. Details in the design of the handles, locking mechanisms, and operating mechanisms are described.
