MODIFICATION OF THE GROWTH OF EHRLICH ASCITES TUMORS IN MICE BY NATURAL AND ULTRAVIOLET-IRRADIATED HETEROLOGOUS DESOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID (in German)

Desoxyribonuclease activity in the serum of Ehrlich ascites was determined by viscosimetry to be equivalent to 2.3 plus or minus 0.7 x 10/sup - 6/ g/ml of crystalline beef pancreas desoxyribonuclease. Injections of heterologous DNA into the Ehrlich ascites tumor under specified conditions does not alter tumor development. After uv irradiation, however, the DNA becomes strongly inhibitory for tumor growth. The possible implications are discussed. (auth)
